Introducing the natural world to children

Opening the minds and eyes of children to the natural world is a theme that runs within all my stories.

Appreciation of nature is not just about looking after the planet it’s about looking after our selves.  Being out in nature working with it in the garden or growing plants in pots is I believe essential for our well being. The stress and troubles that we as adults and children alike can experience are often caused by our busyness and too much time spent on devices. This can be easily balanced by spending some time in nature.

My stories are adventures that take the readers and listeners to places in the countryside or seaside that perhaps they have not experienced and thereby widen and develop the interests and imagination of youngsters. It’s not always easy or appropriate to get your kids outside for a walk but a story that takes you away on a trip to the seaside or the countryside is easily available from a storybook. Introducing children to the great outdoors and all the natural magic that is there is a healthy habit for life.

Real-life can be magical add a little imagination to that and we can enjoy flights of fantasy. In my story called Jacob’s Magic Ears, we have exactly that.

There is nothing more magical than being with a young child who sees or hears something new and is amazed, I have dipped into that amazing place and believe me – it’s pure magic – it’s just life!
